ACP Mark Azu, Acting Western Regional Police Commander has said that the Publisher of the Ghanaian Chronicle, Nana Kofi Coomson was not arrested but invited for questioning over allegations he was using the New Patriotic Party letterhead illegally.
Several newspapers on Monday wrote of the arrest of the journalist/publisher following a complaint to the police that he was using the letterheads to solicit for funds in his desire to win the parliamentary seat of the constituency.
But ACP Mark Azu, who spoke on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, emphasised Coomson was not arrested but only invited!
He said Coomson admitted writing letters to solicit for funds but argued that he saw nothing wrong with that.
The Police boss said based on the complaint, his outfit was investigating if Coomson had committed a crime. He said the complaint only amounts to an allegation and it was proper for the police to investigate to get to the bottom of the issue.
