A Circuit Court in Cape Coast presided over by Mr Samuel Asare Nyarko, on Tuesday remanded a 23-year- old Mason, Nii Aryee Solomon into police custody for allegedly stealing a mobile phone valued at GH¢150.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and would be re-arraigned on Wednesday, June 8.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Francis Ockom told the court that the accused, on Sunday, May 15, pursued the complainant, Agnes Mirekua Nyarko, a Nurse who was on her way to the Nurses Flat at Pedu Estates, a suburb of Cape Coast and ordered her to stop.
Chief Inspector Ockom said the complainant refused the order but the accused managed to catch up with her and asked her to hand over her mobile phone which she did out of fear.
He said the accused took to his heels after collecting the phone but he was arrested by the police on Sunday, May 22, at the spot he committed the offence.
The complainant who got wind of the arrest of Solomon was able to spot him during an identification parade.
Aryee admitted the offence during interrogation and led the Police to retrieve the mobile phone.
