Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, David Duncan has blamed his team’s wastefulness in front of goal as the contributing factor to his team’s defeat in Kpando on Sunday.
The tough talking coach lamented clear cut misses earlier on in the game as the major turning point in their league fixture.
The Porcupines lost 3-1 in Kpando as they failed to complete a double over Hears of Lions in the league.
“There were parts of the game, especially in the first quarter, where I feel we controlled and we were virtually on top,” said the manager at the post-match press conference.
“In one instance I thought that we should have earned a penalty which the referee did not give and I also thought that the best chance of the game fell to Ahmed Toure which I think indiscretion made us lose the opportunity of going ahead to take the lead”.
"So by the 30th minute or second quarter of the first half before Hearts of Lions took their lead, I think we should have been two goals up," he told Asempa FM.
"And in my opinion under that kind of situation the whole complexion of the game could have changed so 3-1 is not a true reflection of the game and I think that we did not utilize our chances".
The defeat leaves the Reds in eighth, seven points adrift of Ashantigold who have a game in hand and further dents Kotoko’s chances of defending their league title
