Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, is backing Derrick Köhn to end Ghana’s “left-back problems” after receiving his debut call-up.
Derrick is part of the 24-man squad for the Black Stars’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali during September’s international break.
The 26-year-old, who plays for German Bundesliga side Union Berlin, made 27 appearances and scored twice during last season’s loan spell with Werder Bremen.
“Derrick Köhn will be the most influential foreign-born player for Ghana since Kevin-Prince Boateng,” Sannie posted on social media.
“Three years ago, I asked Otto why he was not called for the Black Stars. Otto said the talented player was not yet ready. Köhn will permanently solve our left-back problems.”
