Doctors at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have petitioned President Mills over the dismissal of Professor Frimpong Boateng.
The renowned heart surgeon’s appointment was revoked because he sought transfer from the Ministry of Health to the University of Ghana medical school in the year 2000.But his colleagues are appalled by the decision.A five page letter signed by seventeen doctors and addressed to the President, gave reasons why Prof. Frimpong Boateng must stay. One of the seventeen doctors who drafted the petition, Dr Baffour Djan told Joy News, Prof. Boateng’s invaluable service to the nation does not warrant such treatment. He said government must honour Prof. Boateng instead of the manner he is being treated at the moment. He said even if government wants to replace the veteran heart surgeon, they should ensure that this is done honourably and that he should not be hounded out.
