Ghanaian musician Atongo Zimba has shared his thoughts on the importance of constructive criticism in the creative industry.
According to Zimba, individuals who lack creative talent themselves should refrain from criticizing creatives.
In an interview with JoyNews' Becky, Zimba emphasized the need for respect and understanding in the industry.
"I respect everyone in the industry who does things differently," he said.
"Look at Sarkodie, when he started, people criticized him for being different. But look at how things turned out for him. Look at Stonebwoy, he's doing something different and going far with it. So, if you cannot do it, don't criticize," he noted.
Zimba noted that creativity is a unique gift, and not everyone possesses it. "Unless you have a deep understanding of the creative process, it's challenging to provide meaningful feedback," he added.
The veteran musician, who hails from northern Ghana, was taught to play the kologo, a two-stringed lute, by his grandfather at a young age.
He has since become a master musician, singer, and griot, known for his unique blend of traditional and modern sounds.
