"It is going to be a great moment," said Abedi Pele Ayew when Goal.com asked him about the likelihood of his sons Andre and Rahim making the Ghana World Cup Squad back in February.
The Ghana legend has always shied away from speaking about his son's football careers, trying not to put pressure on them, he says.
With the announcement of the Ghana squad by Milovan Rajevac recently, one can only imagine the joy and pride that must be in the Ayew family at the moment.
Both Andre (20), and Rahim (24), will be wearing the Black Stars' jerseys when the World Cup kicks off next week.
It is a feat their father could not achieve during his illustrious playing career in which he won the African Nations Cup as a 17-year-old in 1982 as well as the African footballer of the year award three times and a European Champions League title with Marseille.
Playing alongside such greats as Anthony Yeboah, Anthony Baffoe, Nii Odartey Lamptey and Yaw Preko, the Black Stars under Pele could not make it to the World Cup until many years later in 2006.
One can say the dream of the father is now being fulfilled in the life of the sons, albeit in double portion.
However, Pele said he would like to see them having a great career rather than just playing at the World Cup.
Perhaps if his sons bring home the world title like Andre did with the Ghana Under-20 side last year then their father would be highly pleased. At that time it should then be a "a great moment" for the family.
