The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has reduced the 12-match ban imposed on Ebusua Dwarfs by the Disciplinary Committee last month.
The Appeals Committee also reduced the fine imposed on Dwarfs following the charge of misconduct in the wake of their GLO Premier League match with Aduana Stars FC played at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast on 11th March, 2012.
Dwarfs were also fined GH¢20,000 for the incident that saw their supporter physically attacking the match officials and security personnel at the stadium.
Dwarfs appealed against the decision imposed by the Disciplinary Committee and after a hearing by the Appeals Committee the ban was reduced to eight matches and the fine slashed to GH¢13,350.
The Appeals Committee ruling is as follows:
(i) Dwarfs are banned from its home venue for eight (8) matches to take effect from the date of the match and additionally fined GH¢5,000 for its supporters’ assaults and buttery on the match officials as per GFA Regulations 39 (7) (b).
(ii) Dwarfs are fined GH¢5,000.00 for indulging in an act that has the effect of putting the game of football into disrepute as demonstrated in its supporters throwing sachet water and stones at Assistant Referee 1 in the course of the match as per GFA Regulations 39 (7) (a).
(iii) Dwarfs are fined GH¢2,000.00 for preventing the official PLB Cameraman from continuing with the coverage of the match as per GFA Regulations 35 (1) (c).
(iv) Dwarfs are to pay for the PLB’s Cameraman Samsung Galaxy 2 phone and the battery of the video camera valued at GH¢150.00 and GH¢1,200.00 respectively.
(v) Dwarfs are to bear the cost of the damaged items of the match officials as well as their medical bills.
The Appeals Committee commends the police officers on duty at the match venue for their exemplary conduct in containing the incident and entreat them not to relent in their effort to arrest and prosecute the supporters involved in this case.
