A total of 2,260 polling stations would be operated by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Election Day in the Volta Region.
Volta Regional Director of the EC, Mr Selormey Adukpo Dogbey, said the increment from the total of 2,011 stations used during the 2016 elections was as a result of the Commission's decision to split oversubscribed polling stations that comes with a voter population above 749.
He made this known at a stakeholder engagement among the security agencies, the EC, the media and political parties in Ho.
"After the registration exercise, the EC looks into the numbers and re-adjust," the Director said.
He added that, all preparations were in place towards the December event, and that the Region had taken delivery of all non-critical materials including process forms, stationary, and other accessories.
DCOP, Mr Oduro Kwarteng, Regional Police Commander, said the joint security operations centre for the Region would be opened on November 30.
He said the Centre would run 24 hours each day to coordinate security operations during the elections, and reminded the media to always verify with the Centre before disseminating any security related information.
Colonel Bernard Baba Pantoah, Commander of the 66 Artillery Regiment, said all two sectors of the regiment in the Region had been activated for the elections.
He said a three week training for the event was ongoing, and added that mobile bases throughout the Region would also be active.
