The World Bank has partnered with the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association (GCEA), to provide FIDIC Condition of Contract Management Training Programme, at the Engineering Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra.
The 4-day intensive training programme began on Tuesday, 24th March and ended on Friday, 27th March, 2026. Countries whose participants attended the training programme were Ghana, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Cape Verde and Liberia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training programme, the Vice-President of GCEA, Ing. Festus Adametey, explained that 'FIDIC Condition of Contract' is a book engineers normally use to manage all forms of contracts. "It is an internationally accepted contract book, so people need to be trained in it so that when they are managing contracts, they know the clauses, parties and the type of contracts they are handling".
“The GCEA in conjunction with FIDIC usually organised this training programme depending on the needs of our clients. This training is being organised for the World Bank, dealing with the RED BOOK, which is FIDIC Conditions for construction projects. We have different books depending on the project one is handling. For example, we have: The Yellow Book, The Silver Book, and the Green Book” Ing. Festus Adametey added,” he added.
The GCEA’s Vice President said the "FIDIC Training Programmes are very crucial because when one is managing projects and you do not use the right condition of contract, the right clauses, there are litigation issues that can come up, which can increase the cost of the project or cause unnecessary delays in project".

The Senior Procurement Specialist and Procurement Hub Coordinator for Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Lina Tutunji, said the World Bank is partnering with the GCEA to deliver training for Contract Management based on FIDIC Condition of Contract.
She explained that the World Bank financing project and Contract Management is key in the successful delivery of the infrastructure that they finance in each project, adding, “We therefore use the FIDIC Condition of Contract to build capacity every year for project implementation teams.
The Facilitator was Eng. Abdelhafiz Abdelmoniem, Project Director, Certified FIDIC Contract Manager & Certified FIDIC Training.
