Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Glo premier league side New Edubiase, Alex Ackumey is calling on the Ghana Football Association and Ministry of Sports to assist his team as embark on their debut CAF Confederations Cup campaign.
New Edubiase gained automatic qualification to the Continental Championship after beating Ashanti Gold 1-0 to emerge Champions of the 2012 MTN FA Cup competition.
The Bekwai based Club despite reports of a possible withdrawal as was the case for Nania FC in 2011, have confirmed their participation.
Ackumey has told Joy Sports his side is currently grappling with financial issues which could scuttle their dream of representing the country in the African second tier club competition.
For him, the sudden death of their bankroller has put them in a very difficult situation at the moment, and hinted his side needs financial support from major stake holders.
"Honestly I have to confess, we are cash-strapped at the moment, seriously down, especially after the death of our bankroller, David Lamptey. We can't decide to pull out now, and we want to do this for the nation. So we are calling on the Ministry of Sports and the Football Association to help us."
He stressed that the needed assistance must be prompt to enable them save Ghana's remaining two African slots or improve upon it by leaving a lasting impression on their debut.
Ghana lost her previous four African slots following consistent withdrawals and poor results.
New Edubiase would open their debut account next weekend in Accra against Congolese side Diables Noirs.
Meanwhile their bankroller, late David Lamptey would be laid to rest on Saturday at the Osu Cemetery after a funeral service at the forecourt of the State House later this weekend.
