An electric transformer has been gutted by fire at the Internal Revenue Service head office in Accra.
The fire is believed to have been sparked by a power fluctuation. It was quickly put out and prevented from spreading to a nearby plant.
Assistant Commissioner at the VAT House, Samuel Otabil told Joy News he had to hurry many people on the first and second floors who were not even aware of the fire out of the building.
He said an observer heard the blast of the transformer and alerted occupants of the VAT House.
