Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Mrs. Elikplim Akurugu, has supported four young football athletes to travel to Turkey to pursue international playing opportunities, fully covering their travel costs and welfare.
The players were part of five talented youths selected after a successful football tournament organised and sponsored by the MP to identify and nurture football talents within the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.
One of the selected players, however, could not make the trip after sustaining an injury, leaving four to embark on the journey.
Speaking ahead of their departure, the young athletes expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Akurugu for her support and belief in their potential.
“We are very thankful to Mrs. Elikplim Akurugu for this opportunity. She has invested in us, and we promise not to let her down,” one of the players said.
Another added, “We will give our best in Turkey and make Dome-Kwabenya and our MP proud.”

Mrs. Elikplim Akurugu has consistently championed youth empowerment through sports, using football as a tool to create opportunities, build discipline, and expose young talents to global platforms.
The initiative forms part of her broader commitment to youth development and talent promotion in the constituency.
