The Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC) in the Volta Regional capital of Ho is preparing to introduce various graduate and postgraduate programmes geared towards enhancing Ghana's human capital.
This was announced at the 11th and 12th graduation ceremony of 570 students over the weekend.
The graduates completed 11 programmes in four schools in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic years.
Addressing the gathering, the EPUC President, Prof Edem Kwasi Bakah, explained that the Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible for the institution to hold a graduation ceremony for the 2019 batch last year.
He indicated that the College is gearing towards introducing MBA programmes in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, and MBA Marketing in September 2021.
He further indicated that in determination to churn out refined human resources to enhance the country’s security and law systems, preparations are ongoing to establish a Law and Faculty and introduce postgraduate programmes in Peace and Security.

Prof. Bakah added that short courses would be introduced to, “among other things, train staff in the agriculture sector in the areas of propagation techniques of trees, production of pot plants, nursery management, management of solar dryers and post-harvest management of plant parts.”
“Chair, plans are also underway to introduce Bachelor of Arts in Music and Diploma in Music programmes at our Green Hill Campus, that is the E. P. Theological Seminary located at Peki in the Volta Region,” he added.
He also announced that EPUC is collaborating with the E.P Church to reduce the institution’s infrastructure deficit and with Prodata Africa to enhance its ICT infrastructure to make the “e-learning platform more efficient and cost-effective.”
He, however, appealed to the Scholarship Secretariat to within the shortest possible time-release bursaries awarded to some students of EPUC.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, highly praised the E.P Church on its contributions to educating the populace to complement government’s efforts.

He acknowledged the challenges of the University College and promised that government would play its role to resolve the challenges.
The 570 graduates completed 11 programmes in four schools in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic years.
The 2019 cohort comprises 282 recorded 29 First-Class honours, 127 Second-Class Upper, 85 Second-Class Lower, 32 Third Class and nine Pass.
39 out of the 288 graduates that constituted the 2020 group had First-Class honour, with 118 and 88 receiving Second Class Upper and Lower divisions, respectively. 35 had Third Class, and eight had Pass.
