A convict who staged a daring escape from the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons has been recaptured and sentenced by a Tema Circuit court to 30 years imprisonment. Alfred Adjei was arrested at a Hotel at Community Two in Tema. Mr Adjei and five others were in 2002 arrested by the Tema Regional CID for conspiracy and robbing a trader of her personal effects as well as an unspecified amount of money. But while being to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons on remand, the six escaped together with three other prisoners from lawful custody in the early hours of January 22, 2005. Mr. Adjei was recaptured with five others but escaped again to Togo. The police managed to capture him two weeks ago and was on Friday sentenced to 30 years imprisonment.
