The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has vowed to clampdown on unregistered and counterfeit products and bring offenders to justice.
Mrs Nora Narkie Terlabi, Ashanti Regional Zonal Manager of the Board, expressed concern about the increasing rate at which the market is being flooded with fake products.
This was after leading an operation to seize unregistered and pirated liquor and alcoholic beverage in parts of the region.
These included “V8 Ginger Bitters”, “Yenko Nkoa”, “Lina Communion Wine” “Lina Lime Juice”, “J H Elycee Aromatic Schnapps”, “J H Baron Aromatic Schnapps”, “Madingo Bitters”, and “Nananom Aromatic Schnapps.”
The products were seized at Adako-Jachie, Fumesua, Gyinyase, Atonsu-Bokoro, Tanoso and other locations in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Mrs Terlabi said these beverages were identified and seized after intensive monitoring adding that appropriate sanctions would be taken against the culprits.
She appealed to the people to remain vigilant and to check the labels of products they buy.
