Four persons are reported dead after a Sprinter bus collided head-on with a Metro Mass Transit bus at Kwapea near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region. Several others who sustained varying degrees of injury, including the driver of the MMT bus, have been conveyed to the Obuasi hospital.
According to an eyewitness, the 23-seater Sprinter from Bogoso in the Western region and heading to Kumasi was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided head-on with the MMT bus from Kumasi to Obuasi.
The eyewitness who described the accident as “terrible” said some of the dead had been crushed beyond recognition, and he saw a severed hand lying about.
Detective Corporal Martin Morgan from the Manhyia Police in Kumasi who confirmed the accident to Joy News also described it as a “very serious one”, explaining that most of the injured had been conveyed to the hospital before the arrival of the police and fire personnel.
