Acting national chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddy Blay has asked president Nana Akuffo-Addo not to be detracted by opponents who have for the past eight months been scheming to make the government unpopular.
He has therefore charged the president to be resolute in delivering on the promises they made to the people of Ghana ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Mr. Blay was speaking at the annual delegates’ conference of the party on the theme “NPP: Delivering on our promises our roots, our strength, our future”.

Thousands of party faithful joined their executive officers from the constituency, regional and national, to the conference for the first time, since the party won the presidential and parliamentary elections last December.
The event which is taking place at the campuses of the University of Cape Coast, also coincides with the 25th-anniversary celebration of the NPP.
The leadership of the party is expected to make a number of changes to the party’s constitution including making the flagbearer leader of the party when they are in opposition.
