Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd (GGBL) was on Friday September 27, 2013 presented with the Platinum Award at the Ashanti Business Excellence Awards held at the Golden Tulip Kumasi City Hotel.
The Ashanti Business Excellence Awards was established under the auspices of Manhyia Palace in 2004 to honour deserving enterprises and to motivate companies to achieve entrepreneurial excellence in the Ashanti Region.
This year's event marked the 10th edition of the Awards.
The Kaasi brewery, one of two breweries of the beverage manufacturer, was acknowledged for its vital contribution to the business community and to the development of the Ashanti region since the commencement of operations in the 1960s.
Steve Gilsenan, the Kaasi Brewery Manager, said the award marked "a key step in our journey to being the most Vibrant and Iconic Business in Ghana."
"Our legacy in the Ashanti Region is strong and we are committed to further strengthen this with our investments and the value we create through our operations”, he added.
This year, GGBL invested GHC 80 million in expanding the Kaasi brewery to include an ultra-modern packaging line with a focus on optimizing the use of local raw materials for production.
