Favourites Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak made winning starts to 2018 GHALCA G8 campaign on Saturday.
Defending champions Aduana defeated Dreams FC 1-0 while Hearts of Oak won by the same scoreline against newly promoted topflight side Karela United.
Fatawu Abdulman connected beautifully to a Noah Martey corner kick to give Aduana the win despite Dreams putting up a strong challenge.
Victory takes Aduana Stars to the top of Group A whereas Dreams FC lie bottom.
Hearts shot into the lead in the 28th minute after Cosmos Dauda used his upper body strength to overpower karela defender Yusif Kareem on the bye-line before setting up the onrushing Isaac Mensah, who brilliantly dived to power the Phobians in front.
The Phobians had a couple of clear-cut chances to increase their tally but fluffed it. However, Karela United failed to threaten their goal.
Hearts by virtue have moved to the summit of Group B.
The competition continues tomorrow with Kotoko taking on Eleven Wonders(Group A) and Ebusua Dwarfs squaring off against Medeama (Group B).
