The Indian Association of Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana India Cricket Community under the auspices of Ghana Cricket Association has launched a nationwide tree planting exercise to protect the environment for future generation.
This initiative is part of the activities to commemorate the Indians 70th freedom celebration in Ghana.
The exercise according to the India High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Birender Singh Yadav; the project will protect the environment against global warming and safe-guard cricket pitches across the country most especially around the Achimota Cricket Ovals.
“Everybody would love to play cricket in nice environment so tree is the only thing that can provide such serene atmosphere”.
“We are also looking forward to plant a lot of trees in the whole of Accra because trees sustain, gives us life and also help in protecting the climate change for future generation”. He added.
The project began at Achimota Cricket Oval on Sunday with the first tree being planted by His Excellency Birender Singh Yadav and president of Indian Cricket Association of Ghana, Mr. Rajesh Thakker.
