Ghana participates in World Travel Market fair

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare is leading a Ghanaian delegation to participate in the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM) fair slated for 2nd and 5th November 2015 in London, United Kingdom.

Ghana’s delegation includes officials from the Ministry, the Ghana Tourism Authority, Forestry  Commission, Ghana Airport Company and private sector operators namely Sunseekers, Land Tours, Apstar Tours, African Regent Hotel, Land tours, African Origin Travel and tours)

The WTM fair, which is the world’s leading Travel Trade Show, is an annual event which brings tourism industry players together to network and explore business opportunities in the British Capital of London.

The Ghanaian delegation is taking advantage of the fair to promote Ghana in the UK and European markets by focusing on associations, conference organisers, incentive planners and large-group travel organisers part-taking in the fair.

According to the sector Minister, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare, Ghana’s participation in this year’s trade exhibition will help showcase Ghana’s diverse tourism and cultural heritage to the rest of the world.

“In line with the ministry’s mandate to develop and sustain tourism for national development, this fair will afford Ghana the opportunity to inform and sensitize investors about investment opportunities and incentives available in the tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

“For Ghana, the fair continues to be one of the best platforms to deepen relationships with UK and also to develop some strategic European international travel trade. The UK market is a very strong one for Ghana and both countries have a very close historical relationship which must be sustained for mutual benefits.” said Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

The Minister earlier on Tuesday, 04 November, 2015 highlighted Ghana’s unique tourism potentials when she was given the opportunity by the moderator of the ministerial summit CNN’s Anchorman, Richard Quest.

Ghana’s participation in the World Travel Market fair will be climaxed with Ghana Day Celebration to showcase the rich tapestry of Ghanaian culture and creativity in music and dance, a taster session of variety of Ghanaian cuisine, as well as, an assorted made in Ghana products.

As it was last year, it is expected that a number of participants at this year’s WTM fair will patronize the Ghana stand to enjoy the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality.
