Bechem United failed to turn up for the matchday fifteen Ghana Premier fixture with Basake Holy Stars at Ainyinase.
On Wednesday 25th December, the club officially wrote to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), asking for the match to be postponed over logistical challenges. In its letter on Wednesday afternoon, the club said it could not honor the match because its bus had broken down on its way to Ainyinase.
The GFA said it would only reschedule the match if Holy Stars agreed to postpone the match.
However, Holy Stars informed the GFA that they were not willing to agree to a postponement as they would incur extra costs to keep players and officials camped for the additional five days.

Holy Stars players warm up, while waiting for Bechem United to arrive for the match, long after the scheduled kick off time.
Holy Stars also indicated that the request had come too late - less than twenty-four hours to the match, to be considered.
On match day, Bechem United did not turn up as match officials and the home team waited on the pitch at Ainyinase.
All attempts by officials of Holy Stars to reach Bechem United to understand their failure to arrive on time were fruitless as calls and messages were repeatedly not answered.
Bechem United is now at risk of being sanctioned by the GFA and could be declared the match losers.
Although match referee Selorm Yao Bless did not declare Holy Stars as winners, the club could be awarded all three points and three goals if they file a protest against Bechem United.
Under Article 33 section 2 of the Premier League regulations 2019, Bechem any club that forfeits a match could be declared losers and deducted an additional three points from their accumulated points.
Bechem United may also be charged with ''bringing the image of the game into disrepute,'' a charge punishable by a fine of at least 10,000 Ghana cedis.
