Chairman of the Black Satellites management committee George Afriyie was dumfounded with the rousing reception the team received on their return Wednesday night.
Supporters from the various groups clad in the national colours trooped to the Airport as the team touched down from Algeria where they finished second to Egypt after losing 5-4 on penalties in the final last Saturday.
''Unfortunately we were not able to come with the trophy but I can assure Ghanaians that we have another chance to redeem our own image and the promise we made to Ghanaians," said Afriyie in an address to the media
"With the experience these boys have gained in this tournament, I have no doubt that they will make Ghana proud at the World Cup.
“We are most grateful for the reception given us, we promise to make Ghana proud when we go to Turkey."
The Black Satellites now have to prepare for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey this June.
