Ghanaian players across Europe returned to competitive action over the weekend after the international break. Some of them were key for their clubs with goals, assists and clean sheets.
Here is a wrap of their performances:
Mohammed Kudus made his return from injury and lasted 78 minutes in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday.
Forward Antoine Semenyo missed Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw against West Ham because of an injury that also forced him to leave Ghana’s camp before the defeat to South Korea.
In the Championship, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku provided his fourth assist to help Leicester City win 2-1 against Stoke City, taking his tally to three goals and four assists in 16 league matches. Jordan Ayew was an unused substitute.
In Spain, Thomas Partey was outstanding for Villarreal in a 2-1 win over Mallorca in their LaLiga match.
In France, left-back Gideon Mensah put in a decent shift for AJ Auxerre in a goalless draw against Lyon, while compatriot Elisha Owusu missed the game because of injury.
Salis Abdul Samed made his 100th appearance in Ligue 1 during Nice’s 5-1 defeat to Olympique Marseille on Friday. Sixty of those appearances were for Lens, 31 for Clermont Foot, and nine have come for his new club, Nice.
German-born Ghanaian centre-forward Ragnar Ache provided his third league assist for FC Köln in a 4-3 defeat to Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi produced a Man of the Match performance for St. Gallen in a 1-0 win over FC Lausanne, making seven saves. It was his third clean sheet in 10 league games.
Young forward Prince Amoako Junior provided an assist, his third to go with five goals, while midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi supplied two in a 5-0 win over Fredericia in the Danish top flight.
Youngster Edmund Baidoo scored for RB Salzburg in a 3-2 loss to WSG Tirol in the Austrian Bundesliga. He now has four goals and four assists in 13 league games. The 19-year-old has five goals and five assists in his last seven games.
Veteran striker Benjamin Tetteh scored his 11th league goal in 15 appearances for Maribor in a 1-1 draw against NK Olimpija in the Slovenian top flight.
