Chief Executive Officer of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addae, has received the Health and Excellence Award for her continuous education and treatment of breast cancer in Ghana.
The Awards put together by New York-based Business Initiative Direction recognized 76 companies and individuals around the world for achievements in quality and excellence service.
Breast Care International which received the award in the Diamond Category was recognized for commitment in quality and leadership as well as using technology in highlighting the danger of breast care and its exemplary role over the years that has brought greater awareness to the disease.
Presenting the award to Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai in New York, the President of Business Initiative Direction, Jose Prieto lauded Peace and Love Hospital for its contribution to better the quality of life for its community.
It is estimated that one woman dies of breast cancer every 69 seconds the world over and Ghana is rated among the first 10 countries with high prevalence of the disease.
Whiles intense research to find a cure for the disease eludes scientists, it is believed that early detection of the disease can go a long way to help with treatment.
Dr. Wiafe Addai who is also Managing Director of Peace and Love Hospital told myjoyonline.com the award will inspire her team to redouble their effort in creating awareness about breast cancer.
She said her organization, which recently hosted the second Susan G. Komen race for the cure in Ghana, will continue to undertake free breast screening in schools and other organized groups to ensure that women diagnosed with the disease receive the best of care.
