Government has started donating cash to victims of the June 3 flood and fire disaster in Accra.
The exercise began at the Odawna on Thursday and is expected to reach victims in other parts of the country.
According to the Gender and Social Protection Minister, Nana Oye Lithur, over 8,000 households across the country have been registered to benefit from the cash donation.
Joy News’ Michaela Anderson who was at the event said about 1,000 homes at Odawna received the cash donations. An amount of 100 Ghana cedis will be paid per household for the next three months, the Gender Minister revealed.
According to the Minister, a GHC4 million budget has been allocated for the project. The Western, Ashanti, Volta and Central regions will also benefit from the donation.
The catastrophic incident last month is believed to have claimed about 150 lives.
