Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman and the Group Chief Executive Officer of Hollard Ghana, Patience Akyianu both received the prestigious CIMG Marketing Man and Woman of the Year 2019 award at the 31st edition of the National Marketing Performance Awards.
The awards bestowed on them at a colourful ceremony in Accra, Saturday night, was in recognition of the remarkable roles they both played in turning their respective companies around and stimulating growth and development in the country’s economy.
The two, among other things received a plaque, a portrait of themselves, personal accident insurance cover worth 200,000 cedis, and a week-end treat for two in one of Ghana’s plush hotels.
According to the citation in honour of Mr. Agyeman, he led an organization that purposed to create a more focused and harmonized approach to destination marketing and branding where he led his team to achieve that feet by positioning Ghana as the most preferred tourist destination in West Africa, strengthening Ghana’s global competitiveness amongst its target audience inclusive of stakeholders, travel consumers, travel trade investors, among others.

One notable landmark during his tenure has been the success story of the Year of Return which has positioned Ghana on the map as a destination of choice attracting a visitor population of about 1.1 million in 2019 and over 15 international press organizations to cover the event.
For Mrs. Akyianu, her leadership has seen tremendous progress and innovative ideas that saw the introduction of products like Hollard ChatInsure - Araba Hollard, Hollard on the go with Melcom and Vivo Shell and mobile phone insurance, all of which have changed the face of insurance in Ghana.

She also oversaw the introduction of innovations in the area of diversified end-to-end distribution platforms across traditional and digital channels tailored for customer convenience. In the year under review, her office raked in a total income of about 126 million cedis which was a significant improvement over that of 2018 of 101 million.
Meanwhile, the Marketing Manager of Fanmilk, Edwin Amoako was honoured as the CIMG Marketing Practitioner of the year and Regina Manu as Marketing Student of the year.
