Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, Ghana’s total beverage company has been honored for its outstanding contribution to the economic development in the Ashanti Region.
The total beverage company was given the Platinum award at the 12th Ashanti Business Excellence Awards held at the Golden Tulip hotel, Kumasi in the Ashanti region on 14 August, 2015.
The Ashanti Business Excellence Awards is organised under the auspices of Manhyia Palace and its 12th edition, dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the restoration of the Ashanti Confederacy.
GGBL was honored in recognition for its manufacturing activities in the region since it commenced operations in the 1960s.
Recently GGBL invested about GHC200million to expand its production in Kaasi to use local raw materials such as cassava and sorghum to produce innovative brands like Ruut Extra Beer – Ghana’s first cassava beer and Top Malt, made from 70% sorghum sourced locally in Ghana.
Commenting on the awards, Preba Greenstreet Corporate Relations Director said GGBL aims at strengthening its legacy in the Ashanti Region with further investments and value creation through its operations.
“We applaud organisers of this event for recognising the effort of industry in the development of the region,” she said.
