Drama unfolded at the Akatsi Teachers’ Training College Friday when a group purported to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) disrupted a lecture.
The lecture was set to be delivered by Vice Presidential hopeful Dr Mahamadu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
Carrying placards bearing inscriptions such as "Bawumia Go back, "We don’t want you", and "You are too desperate for power”, the group stormed the venue amid brass band music and chanting of war songs.
JoyNews’ Mawuli Yevu – Agbi reports that things escalated to the point where there was an exchange of blows between the protesting youth and some NPP supporters.

The protest, incident, which lasted about two hours was eventually resolved by the intervention of the police.
In the end, Dr Bawumia was unable to address the gathering and the programme was brought to an abrupt conclusion.
A similar protest occurred also on Ho, where Dr Bawumia was to address another group at the Ho Polytechnic. The lecture has been indefinitely postponed following the incident there.
The protest by the alleged NDC youth was in apparent retaliation an incident Friday where the deputy ministers of education and communication, amongst other government officials, were heckled during a programme dubbed “Campus Connect” at Wesley College in Kumasi.
However, Regional Secretary for the NPP, Joseph Homenya says the Party was psychologically prepared for the unfortunate incidents.
According to him, the Party had prior intelligence suggesting that retaliatory protests and heckling would occur.
