Three schools in Ho in the Volta Region got the roofs of their classrooms completely ripped off following a heavy thunderstorm, Wednesday night .
The three schools are Ho Methodist JHS, Anglican JHS and Nuriya Islamic school.
At the Methodist JHS, the roofs of some classrooms, the headmistress' office and that of a storeroom were blown off and ravaged beyond repair. Textbooks and other vital documents could not be salvaged.
The headmistress Rejoice Kasu appealed to all and sundry to come to the aid of the school.
According to her, if the roofs are not replaced before the resumption of school on May 13, 2014, it will be difficult to hold classes for students.
Homes and kiosks were not spared by the strong wind that accompanied the downpour. Property worth thousands of cedis were lost to the downpour.
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) regional coordinator Simon Myles Bakar told Joy News that messages have been sent to Accra for mobilization of some resources towards helping persons and institutions affected.
