The Greater Accra Hockey Association has received a major financial package of 30,000 dollars( GHC 60,000 )for its Annual Gala competitions for three years from BAJ Freight and logistics .
The deal would see the new sponsors provide an annual sum of 20,000 GHC for the organization of the Hockey Gala competition which precedes the Greater Accra hockey league each year . The Sponsorship deal was signed at the National hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Chairman of the Greater Accra Hockey Association, Frank Awuku was confident
the sponsorship would help boost the performance of the Hockey Teams During the league proper.
"When the teams see sponsorship like this they put up their best, so am confident of a very competitive league next season. This is a preparatory and a stepping stone for the hockey players to be exposed.We are grateful to BAJ freights and logistics for their kind gesture. "he told JOY Sports.
The Chief executive officer of BAJ freight and Logistics ,Joe Biney on his part explained the motive behind their huge sponsorship package is to help improve the less funded sport.
"We decided to put in our resources with the sole aim of pushing Hockey and to improve the standard of hockey currently played in the country. We also chose to sponsor the Gala because improved performances there would have a direct impact on the league. "he intimated.
The sponsorship is the second for the Greater Accra Hockey Association. The first being a financial package of 35000GHC for five years from Dwadifo Adanfo in February.
