Police in Hohoe are holding two suspects believed to have lynched a mentally-ill patient from Gbi-Wegbe in the Volta Region, who escaped from the Hohoe Municipal Hospital.
Police are withholding the names of the suspects for security reasons.
Hohoe Divisional Crime Officer, Kartey Otumi, told the GNA the deceased, Erasmus Kofi Ngo, escaped from the hospital, while on admission in an attempt to locate a relative who stays at the Low Cost, a suburb of Hohoe, in the early hours of June 24.
He said residents at the area, who suspected that the deceased was a thief, attacked and subjected him to torture.
Erasmus Kofi-Ngo died from broken limbs and severe injuries to his head.
