An Accra-based Medical Practitioner, Dr. Ernest Yorke has revealed that homosexuality is unnatural and that there is a need to educate people about the dangers associated with it.
His comments come after a mother in the Central region shed tears for the ordeal his 15 year-old boy has gone through at the hands of an older gay man.
The boy is said to have dropped out of school as a result of the medical challenges he is facing in his anus.
Speaking to Joy News's Bernard Saibu on Newsnight Thursday, Dr. Yorke explained that due to the dry nature of the anus, any form of repeated anal intercourse results in lacerations and bruises that can cause infections.
These bruises, he said, are the reasons why there is an increased rate of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) among people with such sexual orientations.
He said aside the bruises, anal intercourse loosens the anal muscle and can cause irritable bowel flow while repeated anal intercourse can even cause cancer.
He explained that some homosexuals he has met in the past have been forced to wear tight panties due to this problem.
Dr. Yorke opined that people must be educated on the dire consequences of their actions, insisting that if the act is not curbed, many of these people can face serious medical problems in the future.
He wants psychological support to be offered homosexuals in order to help people forced into the act but who want to get out of it. He said this will help manage the problem until other options are made available.
There are reports that thousands of people in Ghana indulge in gay relationships even though the law criminalises it.
