Former Education, Youth and Sports Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo says he is anxiously waiting to be invited by the police to provide information on the controversial judgement debt paid National Democratic Congress Financier Alfred Woyome.
The former Minister has been accused in certain quarters of playing a role in what has become the Woyome scandal that has rocked the country in recent months.
He was alleged to have outwitted the Police on Friday when they (Police) attempted to arrest him.
The police had early on arrested Alfred Woyome, the prime suspect in the scandal.
But speaking to Joy News’ Annie Osabutey, Osafo Maafo said he has nothing to hide or run away from.
According to him, he has additional information to make available to the police, saying “I am waiting to be invited by the police and I certainly will be invited so that I could explain and give some additional information to the police.”
"I am very anxious. I wanted to be invited very quickly.”
He explained that people have misunderstood the New Patriotic Party’s position not to honour the invitation by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office.
He said the NPP is protecting the rule of law as well as the principle of separation of powers guaranteed by the constitution.
He said there will be no basis for him to be detained by the police in the event he is invited.
