Flagbearer of Independent People's Party in the 2012 general elections, Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has expressed worry over the increase in unemployment rate especially among the youth in the country over the past years.

To reverse the situation, he has charged government to increase its support to industries to enable them expand and employ more people.

He said the Independent People’s Party-led government will do its best to assist industries with loans or guarantee for them to acquire the necessary equipment they need in their work.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Akpaloo said his party has in stock powerful policies that will support local industries which it intends to implement when voted into power come 2016. He is therefore calling on Ghanaians to vote massively for the party.

The IPP leader also expressed concern over the fact that aside the production challenges confronting industries in Ghana, they are also faced with marketing problems. He said even though others try to produce in large quantities they are not being patronized because there is no money in the system.

He stressed that the time has come for Ghanaians to patronise locally made goods. "We will improve activities of local businesses in order to help them produce quality products for Ghanaians to patronise since that will help keep the money here instead of always importing from other countries," he said.

Also, Mr Akpaloo called on the Ghana Education Service and the ministry of education to allow school children plait their hair instead of forcing them to always cut it down. He advised the public to ignore the notion children who braid their hair turn out to be disrespectful, rather the practice should be encourage because it also promotes the activities of hair dressers and stylists.

Mr. Kofi Akpaloo therefore appealed to Ghanaians to consider the IPP as the third political force by giving them the mandate to govern the country from 2017.
