The Ghana Police Service has launched a major security operation in Wechiau, deploying a 100-member reinforcement team as part of an intensified response to emerging security concerns in the area.
In a statement issued on November 25, the Police announced that the Inspector-General of Police has dispatched a combined squad of operations and intelligence officers from the National Police Headquarters to the Upper West Regional town.
The reinforcement team is expected to work closely with the Upper West Regional Command and officers of the Ghana Armed Forces to tighten security across Wechiau and neighbouring communities.
