A 15-year old JHS One student was last Sunday found dead in a bush at Whindo in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis, with the body bearing deep machete wounds.
The police are yet to find those responsible for the crime.
The deceased, Elizabeth Cudjoe, was said to have left home last Friday, to join her peers at a funeral in the Whindo community, but did not return.
The parents of the victim told the police that as Elizabeth had the habit of going out and returning home at will, they thought she was going to return the next day.
Her father told the police that he had heard some people wailing in the neighbourhood at dawn on Sunday that a young girl had been murdered, so he rushed to the scene only to find that the victim was his daughter.
When he was asked if he knew of any young man who was dating his daughter, he replied in the negative.
The police have launched an investigation to determine what may have provoked somebody to butcher the girl.
The body of Elizabeth has been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for autopsy.
