A company owned by the younger brother of Vice-President John Mahama, Engineers and Planners, has demised media reports linking the Vice-President to an aircraft procured by the company.
The company said the Vice-President has nothing whatsoever to do with the aircraft.
Read below a statement issued by the company.
Our attention has been drawn to information in certain sections of the media relating to an aircraft recently contracted by our company to provide air services.
Engineers and Planners was formed in 1997 to provide mining construction and engineering services to the many mining companies that were setting up in Ghana at the time.
Since then, it has grown to become the largest indigenously owned mining engineering company in Ghana providing service to the biggest Gold Mining Companies in the country.
Engineers and Planners has also been contracted by Messrs Arcelor Mittal to provide mining services at their iron ore mining site at Yekepa in Northern Liberia.
This project includes civil engineering works for installation of an iron ore processing plant and construction of a tailings Dam.
Engineers and Planners is also in final discussions with major mining companies in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Guinea to provide similar services.
Additionally, Engineers and Planners hold a majority stake in a major truck dealership that covers the entire West African sub-region.
This multinational expansion of Engineers and Planners with Headquarters in Accra has necessitated movement of personnel, spare parts and other logistics previously using Nigerian air charter companies.
Recently, the company has entered into an agreement with an American Company to provide it with air services using a challenger 600 aircraft.
The arrangement makes the aircraft commercially available for rental by mining companies, oil service companies and other corporate institutions when not in use by Engineers and Planners.
We wish to emphatically state that the aircraft has no association direct or indirect with the Vice President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama who incidentally happens to be the elder brother of our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.
Signed..........
Ady Ayitevie
Executive Director
