The Circuit Court in Accra where notorious criminal, Johnson Kombian is standing trial was forced to adjourn hearing on Friday due to the absence of an Interpreter.The court, presided over by justice Ali Baba Bature adjourned hearing till May 23 2012.Counsel for the accused was however absent in Court.Kombian speaks the Bimoba language and when asked by the Judge which language he was most conversant with, he hesitated for minutes and responded “my own language, Bimoba”.But none of the interpreters present could speak the language of the fugitive criminal.Consequently, Judge Ali Baba Bature adjourned the trial to next week.The Attorney-General’s Department directed the Police to start the trial after studying dockets on Kombian.A State Attorney, Marina Appiah is prosecuting the case.The infamous robber, smartly dressed in polo shirt and a pair of khaki trousers, entered the court room in the company of six heavily armed prison officers, smiling.Unlike his previous appearances in court, he looked very healthy and jokingly told media men to offer him GH¢ 10 before taking shots of him.The two-time jail-breaker and cop killer was arraigned to stand trial on two counts of conspiracy and murder of two police men; Constables Owusu Frimpong and Prince Kwaku Agyare in October 2010.Kombian, 35 also known as the Nyankpanduri Terror, was handed a bill of indictment at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison where he is currently serving a 13 year jail term for escaping lawful custody on two occasions.His first escape from Gambaga Prison got him seven years and another six years for the second escape from the Tamale Prison.He escaped to Togo but was apprehended by Interpol and handed over to Ghana.He is also wanted for robbery, attempted murder, and unlawful firearm possession and stealing.
