The death toll in the Thursday morning accident involving an STC bus and a tipper truck at the Komenda Junction near Cape Coast has now reached 16.
Joy News correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko quoting officials at the Central Regional Hospital in Cape Coast, said the latest victim, was a man who suffered severe head injuries from the accident.
14 of the victims died on the spot.
Among survivors were a seven-month old baby and a nine-year-old girl.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident but eye-witnesses say the tipper truck which was carrying chippings from Cape Coast to Takoradi veered off its side of the road and collided with the Accra-bound STC bus from Takoradi.
The two vehicles were damaged beyond repairs.
The accident occurred at about 5:45am. The STC bus had registration number VR 9033 S and was said to be carrying 48 passengers, while the truck had registration number AS 8103 Y.
