The Assembly Member for the Kukuom Electoral area in the Brong Ahafo region has sued the Asunafo South District Assembly of which he is a member over the circumstances leading to the election of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
According to Abdulai Donkor, the rationale behind the court action is to forestall peace in the area before the elections takes place.
Speaking to Asempa news, Abdulai Donkor noted that the election of the DCE and the Presiding Member is now taking an intimidating twist therefore the need for the court action and reckoned that until the election is depoliticized it would not be free and fair.
He accused the DCE-designate, Abraham Atta Bosompem of drawling political lines into the election.
He also discounted the assertion that his action would distract development programs of the area, saying the action is the best way of solving the problems.
The case is due for hearing on Thursday May 19 at the Sunyani High Court.
