The Kumasi Central Market risks another fire outbreak as recommendations made by a committee tasked to investigate the inferno gathers dust.
Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reports that close to six months after the fire outbreak, loose electrical cables hang around with traders speaking of daily electrical sparks at the market.
According to the report, some of the naked wires come into contact with each other on a daily basis causing near fires.
A trader at the market recalls how one of the naked wires electrocuted a colleague who was going about her business.
The traders are therefore appealing to authorities to change the naked and loose electrical wires threatening their lives at the market.
Erastus Asare Donkor says one of the key recommendations of a 7-member committee that was tasked to investigate a fire that occurred in the market in December of last year was a re-wiring of the entire market, but that is yet to happen.
