Ghana international midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi is on the verge of joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce for 2.6 million euros.
His Greek side Panionios have accepted the offer but the 25-year-old is yet to agree personal terms to complete his move in the summer.
Fenerbahce’s sporting director Aykut Kocaman fears the player’s economic value will rise if he is chosen to play for Ghana at the World Cup finals.
Kumordzi, hunted by Greek giants Olympiakos, is in no rush to take a decision on his club future.
“My agent has told me of the offers to choose from but for now, my concentration is on the world cup and the Ghana team therefore, many of the clubs that have interest in me may have to wait somehow until after the world cup because there is no rush,” Kumordzi told Ghanasoccernet.com
He could earn 60,000 euros per month and enjoy Uefa Champions League football which the player has prioritized.
Fernabache relinquished the Turkish League title to Buraspor on the final day and head coach Christoph Daum is determined to shore up his midfield.
“I do not believe in big names in team building but players with the talent, energy, desire and hunger for football success, and I find that in the Kumordzi,” Daum said.
kumorzi is named in Ghana’s preliminary 30-man squad for the World Cup finals.
