The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has maintained Kwasi Appiah as coach for the senior national football team the Black Stars.
The team performed poorly and finished 4th in the just ended AFCON tournament in South Africa, falling short of their goal of lifting the trophy.
But addressing the media at the GFA Secretariat on Friday, Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi said the organization will keep Kwasi Appiah as head coach of the team, adding that firing coaches is not the panacea for the team’s poor showing.
He admitted that the team put up a lackluster performance and said his outfit would do its best to strengthen the coach’s capacity.
Meanwhile, Kwasi Appiah has apologized to Ghanians for failing to win the trophy. He said he would do his best to harness the team’s talent and commitment in order to enhance their performance and advance Ghana’s football prospects.
Answering a question as to why he changed Wakaso Mubarak during the semi-final clash with Burkina Faso, Kwasi Appiah explained that hip and knee injuries the player suffered during the game necessitated the change.
He said Andre Ayew is part of the team and will play a key role in subsequent games as long as team doctors declare him fit.
