Executive Committee chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Wilfred Osei, has confirmed the Black Stars coach and his backroom staff are yet to be paid 2 months after taking the job.
The delay in payment has raised concerns over why a local coach, who earns less than what former Avram Grant used to earn, is being treated this way.
Several reports indicate the formation of a new board for headline sponsors, Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC), is the major contributing factor to the delay in payment.
Despite this, Wilfred Osei believes the situation is a frustrating one.
"From snippets of information, I don’t think Kwesi Appiah has been paid and to me, it does not bring the sanctity of the contract," he told Joy Sports.
"The Minister of Sports is saying the GNPC contract is on, the Majority Leader is also saying it is off. Now you have gone to sign a contract with a coach and most of the performances are based on the contract."
"The coach has not been given a place of accommodation, and he was bought out of contract from the Sudanese club for which we have to also make some payment to them."
Appiah has been in charge of three games since his return, winning one an losing the other two.
