Lawyer for the police woman in the grips of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for her alleged role in the infamous cocaine-turned-baking-soda scandal is making another attempt to secure her release.
DSP Gifty Mawuenyegah Tehoda was denied bail a couple of weeks ago when she appeared before the court the second time. A first bail request was granted by the Human Rights Court because her constitutional right not to be held in detention over 48 hours was blatantly violated by the BNI who without a court order, had kept her for several days.
But she was re-arrested and subsequently denied bail by the court. The Senior Police Officer was implicated after investigations proved she may have been an accomplice in the incident.
She was remanded into custody after pleading not guilty before the court. Joy News can confirm that her lawyer will on Monday file a fresh application for bail pending trial.
