An activist of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adomako Baafi Frimpong, is disgusted at the manner in which officials making up the government’s communication team disseminate information. He said the confusion which arose concerning the alleged mansion bought by the President at Regimanuel Gray Estates could have been avoided if officials tasked with informing the public had done their work proficiently. The Communication’s Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, gave conflicting accounts when he responded to the allegation on different media networks.Granting that the building was a mansion, Mr Anyidoho said on Adom FM that it was given to President Mills as a token of appreciation from the estate developers their own cost.He again stated on another platform that the building, which in its current form is a structure barely off the ground, was not a mansion but an edifice to accommodate security personnel who work at the President’s private residence.Mr Anyidoho later presented three letters indicating that President Mills had requested the real estate firm to put up the building for which he was going to pay. However a director of the estate company, Madam Regina Botwe, told the media that the building would be rented out to the President upon completion. The inconsistency sparked controversy with a section of the public who doubted the credibility of the information. While commenting on the issue during a discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Thursday, Adomako Baafi pointed out that there was no need for Mr Anyidoho to have rushed to speak to the meadia on the matter since he was not armed with adequate information. He bemoaned what seemed to be the trend as far as government communication was concerned, recalling that there have been similar instances in the past.Mr Baafi underscored the value of acquiring the requisite knowledge in one's field of work, in this instance, communications skills; directing Mr Anyidoho to seek much of it if he lacked it.“You lazy creature, go to the ant…” he remarked.
