Radio and TV personality George Quaye says people should refrain from comparing the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) to the 3Musc Awards.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, on Hitz FM, he said such unhealthy comparisons only draw the industry back from its progress.
“I think we should try to walk away from this comparison between VGMA and 3Music; let us encourage and push both,” he said.
His comments come after some fans and industry persons took to social media to draw some comparisons between the 3Music Awards 2021 and just-ended VGMAs.
Some fans say 3Music Awards did a better job hosting its awards shows, while others thought VGMA organisers did the work better.
The fact that VGMA is a less predictable event is the reason why it’ll forever remain top top.

If 3music continues to be predictable for so long, people will lose the drive to watch#VGMA22 #3MusicAwards

Others went as far as criticising 3Music Award organisers for some of their pre recorded performances they had enjoyed earlier in the year, while others stood on their ground and applauded the organisers for their well organised shows.
Ghanaian artistes are learning n growing in their performances, VGMA performances were spot on nobody slacked but the night before was someway. We did not see the 3music awards kind of style but was great.

@andydosty #DaybreakHitz eiiii Mr logic you dey lie ..3music setup is far better than VGMA .me watching vgma was like watching vgma 2000. At a point some artist will come on stage n ask what awards show is this. On a scale ⚖of 10 I will give them 3%. They should do better.

Some fans also drew some similarities between the two shows, among others.
@andydosty #DaybreakHitz Vgma and 3music are two different awards scheme but one is doing better at a tender age when it comes to stage and performing set-up an on the other hand is good when it comes to sharing the awards. Kidi fans should let the woman enjoy her crown.

However, George Quaye believes that the two shows should be promoted equally and not paired against each other.
He said this can encourage more event organisers to host more events and shows, which eventually contributes to the industry's growth.
“Those who have the potential to change the mindset of people on this should do that. Where we sit, we should not be the ones to fuel that kind of competition. I think what we should do is to encourage all event planners,” he added.
