Awuni Frafra, a farmer who allegedly resisted arrest by the police for an offence of threat of death, was on Wednesday arraigned before the Kade District Magistrate Court. His plea was not taken and was remanded in prison custody till March 25. Police Inspector D. T. Nartey told the Court that on March 14 a case of threat of death was made against the accused by one Vida William. The complainant led police personnel to the house of the accused but they met his absence. The prosecutor said just as the police were leaving the house, they met the accused escorting a truck load of sawn lumber into the house. Vida pointed the accused out to the police as her assailant and when his offence was pointed out to him, the police asked him to follow them to the police station. The accused refused and engaged the police officers in a fierce struggle. He also called some youth around to attack the police and the attack was so fierce that the police had to fire into the air to scare the youth away. The police overpowered the accused and took him to the police station. Source: GNA
